Just got back from New York City. I interned at Craft Restaurant, CraftBar and Collicchio & Sons owned by Tom Colicchio. I also got to help out at The Great GoogaMooga. It was a great experience & so much fun!
To a Great Year
It’s hard to believe that my freshman year of college is coming to a close. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was moving out of the house that I spent my entire life in. That being said, it has been an amazing year. Studying Hospitality & Tourism Management at UMass has provided me with such amazing opportunities and really allowed me to be a part of the Hospitality Industry. Through the Isenberg School of Management, I have been able to attend countless presentations given my successful professionals. I have been given so much great advice and have truly learned how to network. Through the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the Food and Beverage Management Association I have been able to meet amazing individuals and learn about all of the career paths which could be possibilities. I’ve been lucky enough to volunteer at the Catersource & Event Solutions Conference and Convention in Las Vegas, and the New England Food Show in Boston. The opportunities that I have been given have been amazing and I am so grateful. I’ve learned so much and worked hard to reach my goals, but every second along the way has been fun. I love the industry that I am in and could never see myself doing anything else. I love working with people and so far the people that I have met have been outstanding. I am excited for the internships that I will be completing this year and continue to look forward to my future in the hospitality industry.

I’m fascinated!
The Dasparkhotel in Austria offers “maximum comfort in a minimal amount of space,” a charitable way of describing the relatively cramped interior of an old drain pipe. However, the drain-pipe accommodations, situated in a grassy park, offer a new twist on affordability: With a “pay as you wish” policy, guests can determine their own bills.
At the Sand Hotel in Dorset, England, guests can stay in outdoor rooms constructed entirely of sand. You sleep under the stars, and wake as the “tide laps through your door.” There’s no bathroom, but that’s what the ocean’s for, right?
I need to travel and see the world
Salvaged Boeing 727 Airplane Converted into Hotel Room
This 727 Fuselage Home is part of Hotel Costa Verde in Costa Rica. In its previous life, the vintage 1965 Boeing 727 airframe shuttled globetrotters on South Africa Air and Avianca Airlines (Colombia). The hotel salvaged this airplane, piece by piece, from its San Jose airport resting place and carefully transported the pieces to the jungles of Manuel Antonio where they have been resurrected into a unique jumbo hotel suite.
Rates are $250 to $500 per day, depending on season. (via epundit)
Such a cool idea! I wish I got to see this when I went to Costa Rica!
